Severe Persistant Cyanosis in a Newborn Due to Prominent Eustachian Valve
ABSTRACTThe valves of right horn of systemic venous sinus are prominent structures within the right atrium during early embryonic period. Involution of these structures may not be complete, resulting in a spectrum of anatomical presentations such as cyanosis. A full-term male neonate referred to our hospital for precise evaluation of severe cyanosis on the first day of life. Echocardiographic e...
متن کاملVein of Galen Aneurysmal Malformation in a Neonate: A Case Report
Vein of Galen aneurysmal malformation (VGAM) is a rare congenital malformation, accounting for less than 1% of cerebrovascular abnormalities. The majority of reported cases have been associated with congestive heart failure (CHF) in the neonatal period. Herein, we present a case of VGAM, diagnosed at 37 weeks of gestation during the intrauterine life Case report: A full-term female newborn pre...

Background: Vein of Galen aneurysm (VGA) is the most common form of symptomatic cerebrovascular malformation in neonates. It develops in a fetus in the first trimester of pregnancy due to unknown reasons, but it is likely to have a genetic etiology. The prognosis of VGA is usually poor, particularly in newborns with heart failure due to high-flow intracerebral shunt. Surgery and endovascular em...

متن کاملNonstructural heart disease in the newborn. Observations during one year in a perinatal service.
One-third of 327 newborn infants referred to the perinatal service of the Hospital for Sick Children during 1975 with suspected cardiopulmonary disorders proved to have nonstructural heart disease. Most of these were term infants with transient tachypnoea or cyanosis who recovered. A history of fetal distress or difficult delivery was commonly associated. The haemodynamic disorder for most was ...
